The bike physically goes into neutral but will not start unless the stand is up and clutch in even when in nuetral. There is a switch on the clutch handle that looks after this. Could be out of adjustment, dirty, no good, etc. Give it a looksee. Post back with findings.The 900's are very durable and reliable.... Them being machines, they will, for freakish reasons, will sometimes have slight problems, but as a whole they are super dependable and fast.... We had to do some minor cr@p like a speedo shim, new tire, fan switch but it runs like a bat out of hell!!! I love it so to me it is worth it!!! LIVE, LAUGH, RIDE! Straight Piped.I've been having trouble getting the carburetor dialed in on my Vulcan 800. At this point, I'm not sure if my thoughts were correct, or if something else is causing the problem. I've got a question about a loud slapping noise (that's been getting progressively worse) coming from the engine of my 96 Vulcan 800 A. The alternator is in the crankcase and blow-by from the piston rings will pressurize the case if it can't vent.
